10月22日 Trimming Our LampsExodus 25:38, “ And it’s snuffers and trays shall be of pure gold.” These were the utensils that were to be used on the golden lamp stand. Twice a day the priests would tend to the lamp stands. They would fill them with new oil and they would trim the wicks. The new oil was needed so that the lamps didn’t go out. The cups only held one days worth of oil, so if the light was to stay on in the tabernacle, the priests constantly and perpetually were to refill it. Not only did they fill the lamps but they trimmed the wicks. This meant that they would cut all the burnt wick away and all the soot, because the more of this that accumulated, the dimmer the wick, or the light, would become. This is a picture of the Holy Spirit illuminating us, and then God trimming our lives every day. The problem is that most of us don’t want to listen to the Holy Spirit, or if we do we don’t take it to heed in our lives. This causes our lights to grow dimmer and dimmer. That’s why most of us can’t reach the world. People in darkness need to be able to see the lighthouse to be drawn to it. If we’re so dim that they don’t see Jesus, how will they be drawn to Him. But if we allow the Holy Spirit’s convictions to bring trimming into our lives every day, the light will continue to grow brighter and brighter. So, how’s your lamp doing? Has it been trimmed lately? God Bless, Rusty 评论 (2)
